The Spa Medical Practice has a complimentary team of clinical and administration staff working from the Medical Centre in Droitwich Spa.
We moved into new premises within the town in September 2008 this has allowed us to develop new services for the benefit of our patients. The practice covers an area approximately five miles in radius from Droitwich Medical Centre, but may extend this in certain circumstances. Please see 'How to Register with the Practice'.
All Doctors share in the day-to-day workload. We open at 08.20 and surgeries run during the day. Our practice provides the usual services including travel clinics, chronic disease clinics, HRT and contraceptive checks, midwifery clinics, child health and paediatric clinics.
Our services extend to minor surgery, minor injuries, diagnostic ultrasound, primary care counselling, alcohol counselling, dietetic advice, drugs counselling, child health and a town based INR service.
We are a Training Practice and Dr S. Panton and Dr R. Kinsman are our GP Trainers. Trainee doctors are with us for a period of 6 months and Trainee Registrars are usually with us for 1 year. It is possible that you will see one of the trainees during the time that they are at the practice.
We have been using computers since 1989, and as of September 2013 we are using Emisweb medical software. We are 'paper-light', scanning all correspondence into the computer where it is easily accessed. We also link to the hospital network for all pathology results and use the computer to look at these results and action them when necessary.
The practice is a member of SW Healthcare Ltd, a GP Federation of all 32
practices in South Worcestershire.
Worcestershire Acute Trust recently underwent a major re-organisation of services. The three acute hospitals at Worcester, Redditch and Kidderminster are now a combined service, with A&E, Paediatrics and Maternity centred at Worcester. Kidderminster Hospital is developing day case units and 'one-stop' clinics and Redditch is home to Urology and Orthopaedics. Droitwich Spa is conveniently amidst all three.
Much of our antenatal care is undertaken by Midwife-led teams, who are also able to perform dating scans here at the Medical Centre. The Community Mental Health Teams for adults are well established in Droitwich Spa and a new Resource Centre is in operation. The Mental Health for the Elderly is on a smaller scale, but Social services have local day care facilities and access to Day Hospitals or inpatient facilities that are available in Worcester.
The practice has proactively adopted the Quality and Outcomes Framework as its ongoing quality incentive scheme.
All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings
(e.g. average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to
patients at each practice.
The average pay for GPs working in Spa Medical Practice in the
last financial year was £53,257 before tax and National
Insurance. This is for 1 full time GP, 3 part time GPs and 3
