Diabetes, COPD, Asthma, Stroke or TIA, Coronary Heart Disease
We offer comprehensive management of the above chronic diseases. It is essential for all our patients with a chronic disease to have regular monitoring checks with the Practice nurse. If you have any of the conditions listed above please make an appointment in your month of birth in the appropriate clinic.
Appointments are now available with our Clinical Pharmacist Mr Mohammed Jivraj.
Clinical Pharmacists are highly qualified healthcare professionals who train for many years to become specialists in medicines and how they work. They work directly with the General Practice Team, to ensure the safe and effective use of medicines to enable the best possible outcomes for patients.
Clinical Pharmacists can provide expert advice on medication. They can help you by making sure the medicines you are taking are right for you, reviewing your medicines and helping you with lifestyle changes to help manage your condition.
Our Clinical Pharmacist can also see patients for their annual Asthma and Hypertension reviews.
The practice offers a contraception service for patients of all ages, which is confidential and includes emergency contraception.
Please make an appointment with the practice nurse for follow up contraceptive checks. Unfortunately the practice does not insert or remove contraceptive implants.
Quit Smoking Advice
Regrettably, the practice is no longer funded by Worcestershire County Council to provide Quit Smoking Advice and GPs are unable to issue your prescriptions for your Nicotine Replacement Therapy medication. If you need help and support to quit smoking please refer to the County Council Website www.nhs.uk/smokefree.
The doctors and nurses at the surgery are aware of the difficulties faced by both patients and themselves when carrying out intimate examinations unsupervised in the consulting room.
Please do not be afraid to request a chaperone to be present in the room - we will not be offended.
Other Services that we offer are:
INR Service (Warfarin Monitoring)
The Spa Medical Practice is the base for the town INR service. There are daily appointments in the clinic with Karen Read and Maria Walker or Beth Manton visit the housebound. The clinic provides monitoring and adjustment of the drug warfarin and provides patients the opportunity to learn about their medications, have their blood tests evaluated, and dose adjustment be made accordingly.
We run a town based ultrasound clinic offering a wide range of scans on a Tuesday and Thursday. The clinics are at either Spa Medical Practice or Corbett Medical Practice. Please note a referral is needed from your doctor to access this service. Please see the attached sheet for Ultrasound instructions. If you are diabetic please note you can eat up to three hours before your scan but please eat something light such as crackers, digestive biscuits, salad etc. Squash can be drunk and it is advisable to bring biscuits for after the scan.
The GPs run a minor surgery clinic. They are able to remove certain skin lesions under local anaesthetic. If you have a skin lesion you are worried about or would like removed then make an appointment with a GP first and they will be able to assess whether it could be removed in the minor surgery clinic. You will be out onto a waiting list and contacted with an appointment when one becomes available.
As of September 2017 the practice is no longer a minor injury unit. If you have an injury please advise reception and they will book you an appointment. If it is an injury that may need sutures or xray please go to your nearest Minor injury unit. In Droitwich this will be either the Princess of Wales hospital in Bromsgrove or Worcester Royal Hospital.
We offer a service to patients to enable direct appointment booking to a hospital of their choice following referral by the GP. This service is called Choose and Book.
The NHS e-Referral Service combines electronic booking with a choice of place, date and time for first hospital or clinic appointments. Patients can choose their initial hospital or clinic appointment
